The Kingsman Origin Story is Told in ‘The King’s Man’ Trailer 2

Director Matthew Vaughn is back to tell the Kingsman origin story in the upcoming prequel film, The King’s Man.

The second trailer for The King’s Man features some new footage as well as a general outline of the film’s plot.

In it, Ralph Fiennes plays the Duke of Oxford, who takes on a young apprentice, Conrad (Harris Dickinson), to train and eventually join the ranks of the Kingsman – the first independent secret service agency.

Matthew Vaughn’s third entry follows on from the highly popular first two films, Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017).

Keeping in tune with the style of those films, The King’s Man features heavily stylised action sequences along with fashionable outfits.

I’ve never been big on these movies though can definitely see the appeal.

The secret service/spy shtick has been done to death by this stage but at least Matthew Vaughn and his team have managed to give these films their own signature brand identity, which only works to their favour.

It also seems fitting that a Kingsman origin story is told, considering there was no mention of how it all began in any of the prior films.

The film features an awesome cast that alongside Fiennes and Dickinson include Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.

See it in cinemas from 14 February 2020.
