‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ – First Trailer for Upcoming Reboot

The beloved 1995 kids film Jumanji gets its modern-era reboot in the form of the Dwayne Johnson-starring vehicle, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

I’m not too sold on the title, but the trailer was funny, and it looks like there’s plenty of action and adventure involved, in a fashion that’s true to the original film.

Jumanji sees a group of typical teenagers get sucked into a magical video game, where they take the form of the game’s avatars, ending up in a dangerous jungle land, forced to survive as they try and find a way out.

The premise is virtually the same as the original Robin Williams-starring film, however it differs in that the first film’s game was a board game, and this film’s game is a video-game – makes sense.

Also, this modern update sees kids trapped inside adult bodies as the main characters, whereas kids themselves played the lead roles in the original, with the Robin Williams character their guide in the Jumanji game.

The film looks like it has some witty comedic writing behind it which could help overall, as the action side of things look pretty generic.

How it all comes together in the end will be the deciding factor, however it does look like a fairly typical action-comedy blockbuster, with charismatic stars there to carry it.

The stars include Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is directed by Jake Kasdan and is due to hit cinemas on 26 December 2017.

What do people think of this reboot?

Is it sacrilege, or are we happy to accept it as a bit of dumb fun?
