Jessica Chastain Impresses in Aaron Sorkin’s ‘Molly’s Game’ – Trailer

Jessica Chastain stars in talented screenwriter Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut Molly’s Game, in what looks to be an equally intriguing and entertaining film based on a true story.

Molly’s Game follows the story of Molly Bloom (Chastain), a former Olympic skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker games for a wide array of colourful characters, from celebrities, businessmen and, the Russian mob.

The film is based on Bloom’s memoirs, and will tell her story beginning from her arrest by the FBI after running the illegal poker games for ten years.

The music in the trailer sets a somewhat zippy vibe for this one, which was a bit odd because most of the scenes in it felt rather dramatic.

It’s possible however that the trailer is trying to convey the message that Molly’s story is extraordinary and it definitely hits that mark.

The film is directed by Aaron Sorkin, who makes his debut here as director, after making a huge impact in Hollywood as a screenwriter, having written films like Steve Jobs (2015), Moneyball (2011) and The Social Network (2010 – for which he won an Oscar for).

Along with that, Sorkin is well known for the creation of two hugely popular TV shows in The West Wing and The Newsroom.

He’s easily one of the greatest writing talents in Hollywood today, however the directing game is a whole new world, so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

If you believe the critical praise plastered all over this trailer, then it seems he’s done well and the film should be worth a look.

Joining Jessica Chastain is Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Chris O’Down and Idris Elba.

It releases across cinemas on 22 November 2017.
