‘Isle of Dogs’ – Trailer for Wes Anderson’s Upcoming Stop-Motion Film

Wes Anderson returns with his latest stop-motion animated feature Isle of Dogs, an homage to Japanese cinema with the director’s signature style.

In a world where all of the dogs of Megasaki City have been exiled to an enormous garbage dump by the corrupt Mayor Kobayashi, the young ward to the mayor, Atari Kobayashi, goes on a mission to find his long lost dog Spot, with the help of some outcast mongrel dogs.

The trailer for this one looks fantastic, and features all the typical elements you can find in a Wes Anderson film, such as a touching, coming-of-age-type story, with plenty of peculiar characters and social commentary.

The animation is similarly styled to the director’s first stop-motion film Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), making for some incredible visuals when you factor in the impressive cinematography.

What’s even more impressive is the film’s ensemble voice cast.

Anderson’s films are well known for having outstanding casts, and it’s no different here, with the voice talents of Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Kunichi Nomura, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Courtney B. Vance, Harvey Keitel, Liev Schreiber, Scarlett Johansson, Bob Balaban, Tilda Swinton, F. Murray Abraham, and Yoko Ono featured in the film.

There are some huge names there, which is a testament to the director and just how many top level actors want to work with him.

Isle of Dogs hits cinemas on 29 March 2018.
