Human-hunting is the game in the new movie from Blumhouse Productions, The Hunt, but what happens when the hunters become the hunted?
A group of regular folk are kidnapped and forced to play a deadly game of survival as their rich, elitist captors attempt to hunt down and kill them one by one.
It appears the tables eventually turn, however, and the hunted become the hunters.
Betty Gilpin leads the cast of unsuspecting victims in this new film from director Craig Zobel, whose past credits include the amazingly tense (and highly recommended by yours truly) 2012 film Compliance as well as 2015’s Z for Zachariah.
He teams up with writers Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse, both of whom worked with Zobel on the HBO TV show The Leftovers.
Lindelof is best known for creating the hit TV series Lost, which was full of twists and turns as fans know, so hopefully, he’s brought some of that intriguing writing along on this project.
Judging by this first full trailer and considering it’s a Blumhouse film, who are known for producing excellent horror films like Get Out (2017) and The Purge (2013-) series, The Hunt looks to be a fun and violent guilty-pleasure horror-thriller.
Joining Gilpin in supporting roles are Emma Roberts, Ethan Suplee, Ike Barinholtz, Hilary Swank and Glenn Howerton.
See it in cinemas from 27 September 2019.
What do you think of this new human-hunting movie?
Has this horror sub-genre grown old and tired now or are you loving the trailer for The Hunt?
