Check out this awesome hi-res image of J.K. Simmons in the role of Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming DC Comics film, Justice League.
Justice League director Zack Snyder posted this image on Twitter earlier today in celebration of Batman Day.
What is Batman Day you ask?
Batman Day is an annual fan-favorite event which is currently in its third year, after first being introduced to celebrate the character’s 75th anniversary.
I don’t think it’s celebrated much here in Australia, but in America there will be themed promotions amongst comic-book stores around the country.
The black and white image released is a noir-ish style look at the newly cast J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, who is Batman’s police-officer friend.
He was recently played by Gary Oldman in Nolan’s Batman films who was great, and this new re-casting of the character is also welcome.
Simmons recently turned in an Oscar-winning performance for his role in the film Whiplash which was amazing, so he definitely has what it takes to do this character justice.
Snyder’s Justice League film is the follow-up to this year’s Batman v Superman, which set the stage for the next film, where Bruce Wayne (played by Ben Affleck) recruits other super-powered heroes to create a new team – the Justice League.
