That’s quite the achievement already for Gibson’s latest directorial effort, and is possibly a sign of what’s to come at major award ceremonies in the future.
It’s no surprise the film has been so well received, as it was excellent (check out my review here).
Hacksaw Ridge tells the story of Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield), a WW2-enlisted soldier who refused to carry a weapon, yet reportedly managed to save the lives of approximately 70 men as an Army medic.
The film releases across Australian cinemas on 3 November 2016.
