‘Fences’ – Teaser Trailer for New Denzel Washington Film

denzel

Denzel Washington stars in and directs Fences, based on a screenplay by August Wilson, adapted from Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play.

This looks like pretty powerful stuff – a father/son/family drama with what appears to be a powerhouse performance from Washington and his co-star Viola Davis.

The film is set in the 1950’s and follows Washington’s character’s life through the struggles of race relations during that time, whilst trying to raise his family.

The role Washington plays in this film looks like it was made for the two-time Oscar-winner, and judging by the trailer it looks like he’s absolutely nailed it.

The same could also be said for Davis’s performance, in the little we see of her.

The play this film is based on has received the highest accolades, winning a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award, meaning it should adapt well to the screen.

Just seeing what I’ve seen so far has got me very interested, though we’ll all have to wait until Fences hits Australian cinemas on January 26, 2017.

Check out the awesome teaser trailer below.

IMDB Synopsis:

An African American father struggles with race relations in the United States while trying to raise his family in the 1950s and coming to terms with the events of his life.
