Disney’s ‘Encanto’ Teaser is Full of Vibrant Colours and Magic

Disney’s latest animated film Encanto is filled with vibrant colours and follows a Colombian family with magical powers.

The Madrigals live in a magical town known as an Encanto deep in the mountains of Colombia.

Their lives are filled with colour and magic; however, one family member, Maribel (Stephanie Beatriz), seems to be missing the magical powers the rest of her family are blessed with.

Mirabel soon discovers that the magic of the Encanto is in danger and that she, as the only ‘normal’ family member, could be the key to saving it.

Like most Disney animated films, Encanto heavily revolves around themes to do with family and finding one’s place in the world.

In this case, Maribel is the odd one out and struggling to fit in, though she’ll eventually find out that even though she’s different, she’s no less important than any other family member.

It’s the type of message Disney is renowned for sending through its films and, while repetitive, works every time.

What separates Encanto from other similarly themed films is its Colombian setting (a first for the studio), the superbly vibrant colours, and new original music.

We get to hear some of the original song, “Colombia, Mi Encanto,” in the trailer, performed by multiple-Grammy winning singer, songwriter and actor Carlos Vives.

Furthermore, the film features all-new songs by Hamilton and In the Heights (2021) creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Joining Stephanie Beatriz in supporting voice roles are María Cecilia Botero, Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Mauro Castillo, Angie Cepeda, Jessica Darrow, Rhenzy Feliz and Carolina Gaitan.

Check out Encanto in cinemas from 2 December 2021.
