Disney looks to the best-selling Artemis Fowl book series to turn into a big franchise with the release of the official trailer for their new film.
The film revolves around the 12-year old boy-genius Artemis Fowl (Ferdia Shaw), who discovers he comes from a long line of world-class thieves after his father (Colin Farrell) is captured on a mission, and imprisoned.
Fowl sets out on a journey to find his father, and along the way finds a secret world full of magical beings.
Artemis Fowl is based on the hugely popular fantasy children’s books of the same name, which is ripe for turning into a new global franchise for Disney.
We can see from the official trailer for this new fantasy film that there is a lot of lore to cover – perhaps too much to fit into one film.
The film itself looks like a lot of fun, featuring plenty of action and adventure with unique characters and a new, well-developed fantasy world to explore.
Some of the CGI looked a bit questionable, but it all seemed to fit into the overall aesthetic of the film.
Artemis Fowl co-stars Josh Gad and Judi Dench, with a release set for 28 May 2020.
