‘Deadwood: The Movie’ Trailer Drops Not Long Before Release on HBO

It looked liked never happening but the long-awaited Deadwood film is finally coming to screens this month via HBO.

Creator David Milch has once again teamed with HBO to bring the Wild West to life, with the film set to be an expletive-filled drama giving fans a proper conclusion to the much-loved series.

Set 13 years after the third and final season of Deadwood aired, the HBO exclusive reunites the majority of the cast from the series as past and present residents come together to celebrate South Dakota’s entrance into the Union as the 40th American state.

The film looks to continue the rivalry between Sheriff Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) and colourful wordsmith Al Swearengen (Ian McShane), who are forced to put their differences aside to stop the returning George Hearst (Gerald McRaney), now a US Senator, from destroying their town.

Along with Olyphant and McShane, series regulars Molly Parker, John Hawkes, Brad Dourif, W. Earl Brown and Paula Malcomson return.

As a huge fan of the original series, I can’t wait to see where the story goes in this final chapter and look forward to a number of surprises and an end befitting the show’s legacy.

Deadwood: The Movie is available via HBO on 31 May 2019.
