The long-awaited trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix has dropped, giving us our first look at the latest instalment in the superhero franchise, featuring Sophie Turner as Jean Grey/Phoenix.

This chapter sees the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe – one of their own, Jean Grey (played by Sophie Turner).

During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force.

Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful but far more unstable.

Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain.

With Jean spiralling out of control and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together.

Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite – not only to save Jean’s soul but to save our very planet from aliens that wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Dark Phoenix reunites much of the recent X-Men cast, including Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Xavier), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver), along with Lamar Johnson in an unknown role.

Simon Kinberg is making his directorial debut on the film working from his own script.

Keep an eye out for the latest superhero movie in the X-Men series when it hits cinemas next June.

A film tragic from way back, the only thing I love more than watching movies is writing about them! Deserted Island Movie Collection: I'd take David Fincher's catalogue of films for sure. No one sucks me into the world of the film quite like Fincher does. Best Movie Snack: Chocolate, without a doubt!
