Christopher Plummer Stars in New Trailer for ‘All the Money in the World’

Plummer replaces Kevin Spacey in the role of J. Paul Getty, the world’s richest man (at the time), in this kidnapping-action film from acclaimed director Ridley Scott.

For those unaware, Kevin Spacey was originally cast in the role of the senior Getty and the film had even wrapped, when his name made world headlines following controversial, career-ending allegations.

Spacey was subsequently fired from the film, and director Ridley Scott brought renowned actor Christopher Plummer in to replace him, and then had all of Spacey’s scenes re-shot!

It was an unprecedented move to say the least, however judging by this latest trailer, it doesn’t appear to have affected the film much (though the tone set out in this new trailer seems to have changed compared to the first).

The film follows the story of J. Paul Getty’s grandson’s kidnapping, and the following rescue attempts that followed, all based on actual events.

The most shocking part of the kidnapping though – J. Paul Getty’s refusal to pay the ransom money, when at the time he was the richest man to have ever lived.

The big standouts in this film appear to be the performances from Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg, who play the worried kidnapping victim’s mother and the former CIA agent tasked to rescue him, respectively.

The film has already gotten some early Oscar buzz, and with this story and some powerhouse performances to boot, I can understand why.

The film releases on 4 January 2018 in Australia.
