The second, monster filled trailer for Rampage sets up the film’s tone, and it looks like we’re in for an action packed blockbuster, that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
The film is based on the classic 80’s video game of the same name, that sees gigantic apes and monsters destroying cities.
Rampage the movie expands on that story, and inserts Dwayne Johnson in the lead human role.
He plays a primatologist, who finds himself caught between the monster destruction, when his best friend and primate George becomes exposed to a mysterious substance that turns him into a giant, violent and destructive ape.
Of course there is a secret government agency running experiments, so it’s up to Johnson and his team, which includes Naomi Harris, to take them down, while trying to save their city from total destruction.
Rampage is a pure fantasy-action spectacle film, that likely won’t go down well with the critics, but could easily be a hit with audiences.
It’s directed by Brad Peyton, who directed Johnson in the 2015 disaster movie San Andreas.
Alongside Johnson and Harris are Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman and Joe Manganiello.
Rampage hits Australian cinemas on 12 April 2018 in Australia, check out the new trailer below.
