‘Beauty and the Beast’ – First Trailer for Live Adaptation of Disney Classic

classic

Today we get our first look at the upcoming live adaptation of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.

For those that are unaware, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle (Emma Thompson), who comes to befriend the hideous beast (Dan Stevens) that takes her captive in his castle.

This first trailer below gives a brief look at the plot of the film and introduces us to some of its characters, including Belle, the beast, Gaston (Luke Evans – Belle’s non-beast love interest) and the quirky living ornamental and dinnerware characters, voiced by an all-star cast of actors.

One thing’s for sure is the film looks visually stunning.

From the little we can see, it seems like the visual effects companies that Disney hired for this film should be applauded, as the fantasy characters in this film fit in perfectly with the overall art-direction.

Disney appears to have started a run in re-adapting their classic animated films into live-action ones for a modern audience, and if this year’s The Jungle Book is anything to go by, Beauty and the Beast should be a hit for them.

The film is directed by Oscar-winner Bill Condon and features a talented cast that includes Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson.

Beauty and the Beast hits cinemas on 23 March 2017 in Australia.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
