The BBC recently compiled a list of the 100 best films since the year 2000, chosen by 177 film critics from around the world, here are the top 20.
The full list is as genre-diverse as it gets for a best-of list, and especially good for anyone that may not have seen many of the films on it to run through them at some point – you won’t be disappointed.
The top 20 below isn’t really one you can argue with either, although there are some non-user friendly films in there, such as Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon, which slotted in at number 18 and the number 1 film, David Lynch’s surrealistic neo-noir mystery film Mulholland Drive.
It’s great to see No Country for Old Men at number 9, as well as A Separation at number 8, which probably deserved to rate even higher.
No surprise to see Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood at number 3, which in my opinion is one of the greatest films ever made.
