‘Hands of Stone’ – New Red Band Trailer

Interesting choice of footage to feature in this red band trailer for the upcoming Roberto Duran boxing biopic, Hands of Stone.

The short trailer highlights some of the film’s sex scenes as well as a bit of footage from the promotion of the bout between Ramirez’s Duran and Usher Raymond’s Sugar Ray Leonard.

Hands of Stone is based on the true story of legendary boxer Roberto Duran and his trainer Ray Arcel, played here by Robert De Niro.

Duran is widely recognised as one of the greatest boxers of all time in the boxing circuit, earning the nickname Hands of Stone due to his devastating punching power.

The Panamanian native grew up in its city’s slums and began training and sparring at the age of eight, making his professional debut at the age of sixteen.

He amassed a record of 103 wins  and 16 losses over his thirty-plus year career, winning multiple world titles, so his story should make for an intriguing one on film.

Along with Ramirez and De Niro, the film’s supporting cast includes Ana de Armas, Ellen Barkin, John Turturro and Usher Raymond.

The film is directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz, who makes his English-language directorial debut here.

It’s due for release on 26 August 2016 in the USA.
