Thor meets his match in the first teaser trailer for the upcoming third film in Marvel’s series about the norse God, Thor: Ragnarok.
In Ragnarok, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) faces off a villain even more powerful than he in Hela (Cate Blanchett).
The first teaser for the film sees Thor lose his powerful hammer and get abducted by a new race of as yet unknown characters, after which he is forced to do battle gladiator-style, against an old friend.
The teaser serves up the very basic premise of the film, as well as giving us a nice look at the visual aesthetic of the film, which looks amazing.
Kiwi director Taika Waititi and his production team appear to have developed a neon, retro-inspired look for this film, which surprisingly, suits it very well.
The film also looks like it will take place entirely off-earth, which is a nice change of pace considering most of Marvel’s films are based there, and gives filmmakers a chance to introduce the audience to new worlds and characters that inhabit those worlds.
Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.
It’s due to hit Australian cinemas on 26 October 2017.
