Shia LaBeouf is Back in a Big Way in Trailer for ‘Honey Boy’

Shia LaBeouf honey boy

Shia LaBeouf writes and stars in the film Honey Boy, a semi-autobiographical retelling of his life and career to date.

Honey Boy tells the story of Otis (Noah Jupe and Lucas Hedges), a child actor who works hard to co-exist with his overbearing, hard-drinking father James (LaBeouf).

LaBeouf wrote the screenplay for the film and is based on his life experiences, controversy and all.

Anyone that’s been following the career of the actor knows that it’s been a tumultuous ride for the Transformers (2007) star, and Honey Boy aims to set the record straight.

The film from director Alma Har’el looks like an emotional ride through the journey of its lead subject, one that outlines the demands of a child actor growing up in a dysfunctional family.

It’s not an easy life for actors coming up in a cutthroat industry, with the surmounting pressure to succeed often taking a toll on many young actors.

Shia LaBeouf’s performance as James, in what is presumably based on his real-life father, looks exceptional and really shows just what the actor is capable of.

Current up-and-coming standout actor, Lucas Hedges (who has not been in a bad film to date, featuring in the likes of 2016’s Manchester by the Sea and 2017’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) looks to be in top form here as well.

Honey Boy looks like a film that has it all for drama fans and is due out on 8 November 2019.
