Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 classic action crime-drama Point Break gets the Honest Trailer treatment, with no aspect of the film being spared from humility.
Point Break is one of the quintessential 90’s action films, that’s gone on to become a cult classic.
The highly quotable, highly memorable film was a career highlight for both its lead actors in Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, as well as for then up-and-coming director Kathryn Bigelow.
We all know Reeves went on to superstardom, with varying degrees of career highs and lows in the two-decades plus since Point Break.
Swayze may never have hit that same amount of superstardom, but was still revered by fans and peers alike.
And Bigelow of course, went on to direct a couple of masterpieces in The Hurt Locker (2008) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012).
While Point Break holds sentimental value for many a 90’s action-film fan, including myself, watching this Honest Trailer and I’d forgotten just how silly the film is, at least when highlighting the specific points the video covers.
Reeves’ acting, the cliché plot and side-characters, along with some strangely bro-mantic elements between the film’s two leads make for some hilarious viewing in this new video from the Honest Trailers team (see more here on the official channel).
