‘Pete’s Dragon’ – New Trailer

A new international trailer has been released for the upcoming Disney film, Pete’s Dragon, which stars Robert Redford and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Pete’s Dragon is a remake of the 1977 live-action/animated musical film of the same name, however judging by the trailer, there doesn’t appear to be much singing and dancing in the 2016 version.

The film tells the story of Pete (Oakes Fegley), a boy who has spent six years living in the wild, much to the bemusement of forest ranger Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) and her father Meacham (Robert Redford).

They find out that the truth is much stranger than fiction, when it’s revealed Elliot has been under the care of a mythical dragon known as Elliot.

This new trailer gives us a sense of the direction the film will go in, with classic heartwarming elements that are a staple of Disney films, but also not without its share of drama and themes of adversity, as the friendly dragon appears to be seen as a threat by some.

The film is directed by David Lowery, who most recently directed the western-themed drama film Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, which is not exactly the type of film you’d think would get you the job to remake a Disney classic.

He has also been attached to direct the upcoming live action of Peter Pan as well, so Disney has obviously seen something in Lowery.

The film is due out in Australian cinemas on 15 September 2016.

IMDB Synopsis:

The adventures of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who just so happens to be a dragon.
