Acclaimed actors Michael Shannon and Shea Whigham square off in the new, mysterious thriller film The Quarry.
If you told me this film was two hours of Michael Shannon and Shea Whigham watching paint dry I’d be just as excited as if my favorite football team had won the premiership cup.
Shannon and Whigham are two fantastic actors at the top of their game.
Shannon is an award-winning thespian with a strong body of work while Whigham is one of the most underrated performers out there, whose presence always lifts a film.
Together, the pair star in The Quarry, based on the novel of the same name by writer Damon Galgut.
The film brings the two together in a noir tale set in a small American town.
Whigham plays a preacher known only as The Man, who might not be who he says he is.
Arriving in town he soon finds himself involved with a local woman while assembling a flock of worshipers.
Shannon plays the local lawman that begins to have his suspicions about who The Man really is.
The trailer isn’t exactly exciting, but the presence of Shannon and Whigham should elevate it above the regular thriller film fare.
Director Scott Teems might not be a familiar name but he was behind the camera for a couple of episodes of Rectify and is currently writing Halloween Kills (2020).
The cast also includes Catalina Sandino Moreno, Bobby Soto, and Bruno Bichir.
