Director Harmony Korine’s latest film The Beach Bum follows the exploits of the rebellious stoner Moondog (McConaughey).
Not much else has been revealed in the way of the film’s plot, nor is it obvious from the film’s first teaser.
In it, we’re introduced to McConaughey’s Moondog; a free-spirited stoner who lives life to the fullest.
It’s hard to determine what actually happens in this film, but if Korine’s past work is anything to go by, it’ll be equal parts uneasy as it is funny.
The director has built a reputation of sorts with films that include the likes of Spring Breakers (2012), Trash Humpers (2009) and Mister Lonely (2007).
Despite how you feel about the director’s work, one thing’s for sure is that you won’t quickly forget what you saw when you walk out of a Harmony Korine movie – for better or worse.
Having already played a stoner-dude in his breakout role in 1993’s Dazed and Confused, McConaughey seems to be the perfect fit for this role.
The Beach Bum also stars Isla Fisher, Martin Lawrence, Zac Efron, Jonah Hill and Snoop Dogg.
