He proved his comedy chops a couple of years ago alongside Amy Schumer in Trainwreck, and now NBA superstar LeBron James looks set to star in his very own comedy movie.
James has sold an untitled comedy pitch to Paramount Players (a new film studio division of Paramount Pictures), along with scribe Steve Mallory and James’ production company SpringHill Entertainment.
According to Variety, SpringHill and Mallory have been developing the film for months, with James now also in early talks to star.
James will produce with his SpringHill partner Maverick Carter, while SpringHill’s Jamal Henderson and Spencer Beighley are on board to oversee the project.
Ali Bell and Gabby Canton are handling the project on the Paramount Players side.
For James, this comes after signing one of the biggest deals in NBA history, joining the Los Angeles Lakers on a four-year, $154 million contract.
James has also been busy away from the basketball court, following his 2015 big-screen debut in Trainwreck with a producing role on New Line’s upcoming House Party remake.
His SpringHill banner just sold the spec script Hustle to Legendary Entertainment and James is also an executive producer on Netflix’s limited series On Her Own Ground, starring Octavia Spencer.
