Word has it that a Big Lebowski spinoff film is currently in the works, focusing on John Turturro’s character Jesus Quintana.
That film became an instant cult classic after its release in 1998, catapulting Jeff Bridges’ character The Dude into the annals of movie-character history.
Jesus Quintana was The Dude’s bowling rival, played superbly by John Turturro.
Turturro is currently in the process of filming a film called Going Places, under the guise of a remake of the 1974 French film of the same now, but the rumour is that it’s actually a Lebowski spinoff based on his character in that movie.
The film also stars Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou and Susan Sarandon and the synopsis is as follows:
“Two petty thieves, Turturro’s Jesus and Cannavale’s Petey, compete to give a woman (Tautou) her first orgasm after she’s roped into their hijinks.”
That plot sounds like the perfect story to fit the character’s deviant personality, and if it retains a similar tone to The Big Lebowski, it should be hilarious.
The Coen brothers, who directed The Big Lebowski are apparently not involved this film in any way, and it appears Turturro is taking writing duties on this one.
