Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman gets a new trailer and it features all of the mafia movie goodness you can hope for from the legendary director.
This new trailer has a heavy Goodfellas (1990) vibe to it that focuses on the criminal elements of the film, compared to the first trailer, which seemed to focus more on the political aspects of the story.
Goodfellas being famously directed by Scorsese of course, which is one of his best movies and one of the best in the genre.
The first trailer for The Irishman wasn’t too intriguing without much of the mafioso side of things on display, though this new one should please mafia film fans.
The trailer sees Robert De Niro’s heavy, Frank Sheeran, being questioned by Ray Romano’s lawyer character Bill Bufalino, who later goes on to introduce Sheeran to his extended, colourful family led by Joe Pesci’s Russell Bufalino.
Further on, Sheeran is hired by American labour leader Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino) for his expert protective services and lots of killing ensues.
The Irishman is based on a true story and will cover various decades in an epic gangster saga that we haven’t seen on the big (and small) screen in a long time.
Harvey Keitel, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, Jack Huston and Jesse Plemons co-star and the film is due out in cinemas on 1 November 2019 and then on Netflix on 27 November 2019.
