‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Trailer Showcases a Battle of Two Legendary Titans

godzilla vs kong

Two of pop-culture’s most famous monsters square off in the epic action film, Godzilla vs. Kong from director Adam Wingard.

The next entry in the cinematic Monsterverse following Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Kong: Skull Island (2017) sees two of the preceding films’ monster protagonists, Godzilla and Kong do battle in an epic, neon-filled landscape, with humans caught in the crossfire.

In Godzilla vs. Kong, the humans have enlisted (against his will it seems) the help of the king of the apes, Kong, in an effort to defend against a new attack from Godzilla, the undisputed king of the monsters.

The two behemoths will fight in a battle of epic proportions as more information is uncovered about the history of these gargantuan creatures.

The first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong showcases the battle between the two monsters, with glimpses of the human story at the centre of the narrative.

The human story, while pivotal to the plot, has never been the focus of these films though, as they mostly serve as a spectacle for the cinema (and now, home cinema) crowd.

And spectacle this film is sure to deliver, as the creature effects, battle scenes, and overall production design look amazing.

The filmmakers have gone for a stylized look on this film which really enhances the action, and is a nice way to detract from what will likely be a substandard story.

Godzilla vs. Kong features an outstanding cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir.

It’s directed by Adam Wingard, whose past works include 2017s Death Note, as well as the super-cool indie horror films The Guest (2014), and You’re Next (2011).

It hits Australian cinemas on 25 March and arrives to US cinemas and HBO Max simultaneously on 26 March 2021.
