DC’s Aquaman is getting his own solo film this year with James Wan in the director’s chair – here are the first images from the film!
Aquaman will follow the origin story of DC Comics superhero Arthur Carry (Jason Momoa), as he learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis.
The rest of the plot details are scarce, however, it’s likely that Aquaman will be facing off against Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) and Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) – two classic villains from the comics.
Aquaman has now been seen in two feature films; ever so briefly in Batman v Superman (2016) and more prominently in 2017’s Justice League.
He certainly had an impact (for better or worse is debatable) on the poorly received Justice League film, so this solo film should, hopefully, redeem the character’s live-action presence.
At the helm is horror-legend, and fellow Australian James Wan, who is slowly taking over Hollywood.
Wan certainly knows how to make an entertaining film, so things are looking good for Aquaman.
The first pics from the film give us a look at most of its principal characters, including the first look at Nicole Kidman in the role of Queen Atlanna, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane/Black Manta.
Aquaman features an outstanding cast that includes Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman.
It’s due out in cinemas on 26 December 2018.
