First Official Trailer for ‘Fast & Furious 9’ Looks So Bad It’s Good

fast and furious 9 trailer

Vin Diesel is back in Fast & Furious 9 and as expected, everything is on a grander scale than anything that’s come before it.

This franchise is relentless and refuses to die, and we can see exactly why from the official first trailer for Fast & Furious 9 – it is as guilty a viewing pleasure as ever.

With so many films in the series, it’s as though the filmmakers have run out of ideas and are at the stage where they just make things up as they go along.

Such is the case in Fast & Furious 9, with the introduction of John Cena’s character Jacob, who is Dominic Toretto’s (Diesel) long lost brother.

Naturally, Jacob is a super thief/spy/fighter/racer, just like big brother Dom, and the sibling rivalry between the pair forms the basis of all the action in this film.

There will likely be more to it than that, plot-wise, as we also see Charlize Theron’s character from 2017’s The Fate of the Furious make a return, assumingly to hatch more schemes to try and take down Dom, yet again.

Despite the terrible storyline, the film looks like a bunch of fun, with the scale of the action turned up to a whole new level.

The Fast films have been becoming considerably more bonkers action-wise with each new iteration, with this latest one aiming to take it the extra mile.

From what we can see in the first trailer, it looks as though they’ve gotten there.

Fast & Furious 9 features a lot of familiar faces from the franchise and includes the return of Sung Kang as Han and Lucas Black as Sean, both of whom featured in 2006’s Tokyo Drift.

It appears, however, that Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, who recently got their own spinoff film with Hobbs & Shaw (2019), will not be returning for this one.

Fast & Furious 9 is scheduled for release on 1 August 2019.
