Hemsworth plays a ruthless mercenary tasked with protecting a boy from dangerous criminals in the new Netflix film, Extraction.
The new action film Extraction sees Hemsworth play a black market mercenary who’s given a job to rescue a kidnapped boy from a deadly Indian crime lord.
Once the boy is secured, he has to fight his way through swarms of enemies to get him to safety.
Hemsworth’s character starts off as a man with nothing to lose and nothing to live for, though we can see from the trailer that once he begins to bond with the boy, he’ll begin to change.
Extraction doesn’t appear to bring anything new to the action genre, though the fight choreography and stunts look well done, and should be enough to keep audiences thrilled.
It’s directed by Sam Hargrave who makes his feature directing debut after having previously worked as a stunt coordinator on films like Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
His skills in stunt coordination seem to have transferred across to this film flawlessly, though his skills as a director will be the true test here.
Thankfully Hargrave has Joe and Anthony Russo to turn to for guidance, as the brothers serve as writers and producers on this one.
Extraction arrived on Netflix on 24 April 2020, check out the trailer below.
