The long-awaited Black Widow solo film is on its way and a second trailer has just been released featuring some new footage.
The Avenger known as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) gets her own solo film and in it, she goes back to Russia and reunites with her human-weapon family.
Her family is played by Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and a chubby David Harbour.
The film follows Black Widow’s journey between the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), as she finds herself on the run.
She doesn’t get much of a moment to rest, however, as it’s mentioned that the ‘Black Widow’ program has advanced with a new range of merciless killers, of whom she’ll have to face off against in the film.
We also see the as-yet-unnamed villain of the film, though word around town is that it will be Taskmaster.
Taskmaster’s powers include the ability to mimic the actions of their opponents, essentially knowing their opponent’s combat moves ahead of time.
Aside from the plot details, the new trailer shows off some of the impressive action set pieces which appear to feature a lot of hand-to-hand combat and gun-fighting.
The film is directed by Aussie Cate Shortland, whose past work includes Berlin Syndrom (2017), Lore (2012), and Somersault (2004).
See it in cinemas on 1 May 2020.
