‘Army of One’ – Trailer for New Nicolas Cage Comedy Film

Check out the trailer for the absurd new comedy Army of One starring Nicolas Cage, Russel Brand and Rainn Wilson, from the director of Borat.

Anyone that’s been following Nicolas Cage’s career knows that the once revered actor (he is an Oscar-winner after all) has had a bit of a dip in his career, resulting in the majority of his roles coming in B-grade films over the last decade (and probably longer).

Whether or not he can come back from his career downfall still remains to be seen, even though I have a feeling that once great actor is hiding beneath the surface somewhere.

In any case one of his next starring roles is in Larry Charles’ absurdist comedy film Army of One.

The film follows Cage’s character who goes on a one-man mission to hunt down Osama Bin Laden after getting a message from God, played here by comedian Russell Brand.

The plot is absolutely ridiculous, and as you’ll see in the trailer below, the performances seem to match.

As silly as the film might look to some, it’s the style of film that’s right up Larry Charles’ alley, after having directed the Sacha Baron Cohen-starring films Borat, Bruno and The Dictator.

Charles is definitely not one to shy away from pushing the boundaries on the gross-out comedy front, and while the trailer doesn’t show any of that type of humour, it’s fair to say there will be something in this film that will leave a lasting impression on you, for better or worse.

The film could very well end up being terrible, but by this stage I’d watch anything Larry Charles makes, as his past writing and producing work on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm have cemented the director’s legacy in comedy history.

Check out the trailer below.
