Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton, Taylor Kitsch and Scott Adkins star in the upcoming action film based on the book of the same name, American Assassin.
The film follows O’Brien’s character Mitch Rapp, who becomes a CIA agent in order to track and kill terrorists, after suffering a tragic personal loss at the hands of terrorism.
He’s trained under the tutelage of the Cold War vet Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton), as the two set out to stop terrorists in their tracks.
It all looks like pretty standard fare to me going by the first trailer.
I wasn’t buying Dylan O’Brien in this role, and most of the movies Taylor Kitsch has starred in have been flops, making me wonder what respected actor Michael Keaton is doing in this.
Seeing as the film is based on a popular book, it’s possible there could be a franchise in this if it does well, so he may be setting himself up for future films.
American Assassin looks like it could appeal to Bourne movie fans, and could make for a decent, if not somewhat generic action flick.
