Zac Efron has released the first image of himself portraying notorious serial killer Ted Bundy in the upcoming film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’.
Despite the title being a mouthful, it’s quite accurate if you know anything about Bundy’s crimes.
The serial killer is famous for his good looks, jailbreaks, and staggering number of victims (Bundy was responsible for a minimum of 30 murders).
Efron is actually inspired casting for Bundy; good-looking, charming, and the last person you would expect.
Bundy famously worked at a suicide prevention hotline and after his initial arrest, his co-workers raised money for his defence as they couldn’t believe he was guilty.
Efron perfectly fits the young, clean cut look Bundy had when he first started luring women to their deaths, by convincing them he was either a police officer, campus security, or someone with a broken arm who needed help carrying something (a tactic later portrayed in 1991’s Silence of the Lambs).
The film is currently in production and is directed by veteran true-crime documentarian Joe Berlinger, who’s most known for his Paradise Lost (1996-2011) trilogy of documentaries, as well as 2004’s Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.
The film also stars Lily Collins and John Malkovich, with no scheduled release date as of yet.
