According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit, Deadpool 2’s fan praising character has found their actor in none other than the galactic power-glove wearing man himself, Josh Brolin.

After months of rumors and deals nearly struck as to who would fill the role, I and many others having our fingers crossed for our beloved Keira Knightley, the many names floated for the part included the ultimate sausage party of Russell Crowe, Brad Pitt, Stephen Lang, Michael Shannon, and the closest to signing being Kyle Chandler under then director Tim Miller.

To the surprise of many fans, Brolin is set to play Cable in an estimated four Fox Marvel movies according to the sources of The Hollywood Reporter, which is a big commitment considering the extensive schedule and seven year contract he’s under as Disney/Marvel’s main daddy villain Thanos coming to the screen first in 2018.

This comes in addition to his strong independent and dramatic schedule as the lead in Joseph Kosinski’s firefighting adventure Granite Mountain this September 22, Soldado, the sequel to Sicario set for a 2017 release date, his George Clooney ensemble film in Suburbicon on November 3, and the lead in The Legacy of the Whitetail Deer Hunter opening December 25.

Cable, created by Deadpool’s Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, has been in comics the cool and collected yin to Deadpool’s manic yang, set to give us an interesting dynamic to this upcoming picture.

Deadpool 2 is being directed by John Wick and the upcoming Atomic Blonde director David Leitch and is set for an unconfirmed 2018 release date.
