Disney Pixar’s Luca trailer teases a charming coming-of-age story that asks its viewers to imagine life out of their comfort zones.
Luca follows the story of a young sea monster, who, disguised as a boy, has the summer of a lifetime on the Italian Riviera.
Luca (Jacob Tremblay) becomes good friends with a human girl, all while keeping his secret underwater origins close to his chest.
The vibrant seaside Italian town and the underwater world of sea monsters make for a fantastic setting for this new Disney Pixar animated film.
In true Pixar fashion, Luca is full of charm and humour, with a coming-of-age story that the powerhouse studio is known for telling.
The film comes from director Enrico Casarosa, who makes his directing debut but has formerly worked as a storyboard artist on other Disney Pixar properties such as Coco (2017), Up (2009), and Ratatouille (2007).
In what has been a trend for Disney lately, Luca will be released exclusively on its Disney+ streaming platform on 18 June, following the successful release of Soul (2020) on the platform late last year.
Disney has been quick to keep up with the streaming times, making Luca accessible to as many people as possible.
