Cinema Nova in Carlton is hosting a film festival to celebrate the works of master director Alfred Hitchcock, which will run from July 21 – 26.
Alfred Hitchcock is arguably the best director that ever lived, having directed over 50 movies and also pioneering the filmmaking elements used in the suspense and psychological thriller genres amongst other things.
The director was ahead of his time in all aspects of filmmaking, with his signature twist endings and voyeuristic camera techniques, having directed several classics over a career that spanned 50 years.
Cinema Nova will be screening 15 of his films over the 6 day festival, including some pure classics like Dial M for Murder (in 3D!), Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho and my personal favourite, Shadow of a Doubt.
For more information and to book tickets, please visit the offical Cinema Nova webpage.
Check out the videos below, the first of which is an awesome short video that emphasises the shots of eyes the director used in a lot of his films, and the second a retrospective look at the top 10 Hitchcock films.
