The first teaser trailer for Tim Burton’s re-imagining of Disney’s classic animated film Dumbo has dropped, along with a first-look image gallery.
Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children are hired by circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) to care for a newborn elephant with oversized ears named Dumbo when they discover the elephant, can fly.
Dumbo’s peculiar talent attracts the entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits Dumbo to feature in his new venture, Dreamland, where he becomes an instant star.
It’s only then when Holt learns that Dreamland and its proprietors are harbouring dark secrets.
The film is Disney’s latest in the line of live-action reboots of its original animated properties, with Tim Burton, and his particular imaginative directing style at the helm here.
The first teaser gives us a good look at Dumbo, as well as a few glimpses of the human cast of characters, that include Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, Alan Arkin and the young stars Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins.
Dumbo is Burton’s first film since 2016’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, which received mixed to favourable reviews.
As with most Tim Burton movies, there’s definitely a macabre element to the teaser trailer, that will likely transcend into the final version of the film; a style that seems to fit well here.
The film is still a ways away, due out in cinemas 29 March 2019.
Check out the first teaser below, along with a first-look image gallery from the film.
