Spider-Man Returns to Theatres in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse trailer

Marvel’s most popular superhero, Spider-Man, is back in theatres in 2018 in the animated feature film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) meets Peter Parker (Jake Johnson); two Spider-Men from two different parrallel universes.

An older and wiser Peter Parker will help teach the young Morales how to be Spider-Man, as the two (and presumably several other Spider-people) join forces to tackle a greater foe.

One other Spider-person already makes their debut in this first trailer in the form of Gwen Stacy, or Spider-Gwen as she’s known in the comic series.

Spider-Verse is based on a 2014 comicbook series from Marvel comics, which saw the inclusion of every version of Spider-Man to have ever made an appearance in any form of media.

It’s a story arc that may still be too convoluted to translate into a traditional film at this stage, however, it should work well in the animated-film format.

The upcoming animation looks stunning, and the filmmakers clearly had 3D in mind when developing it, so it should be a good experience watching it in the dwindling format on the big screen.

Along with the various Spider-men the film promises to feature, we can also be sure to expect several interesting villains that have yet to pop up on the big screen.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse could not come at a better time for Sony and Marvel, as the character is currently peaking in popularity, having starred in his own film with last year’s Homecomingand more recently in Avengers: Infinity War.

The film hits cinemas on 26 December 2018, check out the official trailer below.
