An intriguing trailer for the upcoming movie American Pastoral starring and directed by Ewan McGregor has been posted online.
The trailer doesn’t reveal too much but it definitely sets the tone for the film, which looks like it could be a haunting, emotional experience.
What we do know is that the daughter of the lead character (McGregor) has gone missing after blowing up a post office as an act of political terrorism.
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name by Philip Boyce and co-stars Jennifer Connelly, Dakota Fanning, Uzo Aduba and Molly Parker.
It will be Ewan McGregor’s first foray into directing and it will be interesting to see how he goes making the jump solely from acting, considering he’s already established a very credible name for himself in that area.
Whether or not McGregor has the skills to direct a memorable dramatic film is yet to be seen, but one thing’s for sure is that the film will at least be visually stunning if nothing else, as you’ll see in the trailer.
American Pastoral is set to be released in late October in the USA.
Check out the awesome new poster below as well.
