Check out this short behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing the creature design for the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The video features Creature Effects Supervisor Neal Scanlan talking a bit about the experience working on a Star Wars film, as we see a close-up of some of the creatures featured in the film.
The effects team behind this film appear to have nailed the look of the creatures, using animatronics and puppet design to bring them to life.
It looks like Rogue One will have plenty of practical effects, which is the best option for any fantasy film where possible.
As good as CGI technology has advanced over the years, nothing can beat the laborious work of creature effect designers and the spectacular outcome they produce.
The original Star Wars trilogy was mostly practical, and still holds up to this day, even looking better than the CGI heavy prequels that followed later.
Rogue One is set to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest film of 2016 when it releases on 15 December in Australia (tickets on sale now).
The film is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker.
