A supernatural presence known as La Llorona haunts two children in the upcoming horror film The Curse of the Weeping Woman.
Social worker Anna Garcia (Linda Cardellini) and her family are haunted by the terrifying spirit of La Llorona, an evil entity that is out to claim her children.
With the help of the church and a disillusioned priest, they will fight to stop La Llorona while being terrified along the way.
The film has some excellent cinematography from what we can see in the trailer which helps in creating a creepy atmosphere, but, is it scary?
Weeping Woman appears to feature all the classic supernatural horror movie tropes we’ve seen time and time again, so what will it bring to the table to separate it from every other horror in that particular sub-genre?
Judging by the trailer, not much it seems.
That’s not to say it’s a movie horror fans shouldn’t get excited for, as it’s produced by James Wan and is rumoured to be set in The Conjuring (2013) universe.
Fans of those films and any of Wan’s horror-connected works should be in for a treat here.
The Curse of the Weeping Woman is directed by newcomer Michael Chaves and co-stars Raymond Cruz.
It hits cinemas on 18 April 2019, check out the new trailer below.
